Eating Gluten Free in London: Complete Disney Cruise Port Guide [2026]
Last updated on August 20, 2026
London is one of the most iconic cities in the world, filled with historic landmarks, incredible museums, bustling neighborhoods, and plenty of places to eat. For Disney Cruise Line guests sailing from Southampton, London is also a popular place to spend a few days before or after a cruise. And, if you’re traveling gluten free or with food allergies, you might be wondering just how easy it is to navigate dining in the city (spoiler alert: there are so many incredible options).

During our time in London, we had the chance to explore the city and try a variety of gluten free dining options, from classic burgers and chips (aka fries) to proper afternoon tea service. Overall, we found London to be an incredibly gluten free friendly destination, with plenty of choices ranging from quick meals and baked goods to sit-down restaurants. Our only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to try all the options!
In this guide, we’re sharing our firsthand experiences eating gluten free in London, along with some of the restaurants that were on our list but that we didn’t get a chance to visit. Whether you're spending a few days in London before your Disney Cruise or extending your vacation after your sailing, we hope our experiences help make planning your own gluten free London adventure a little easier.
Before You Go: Planning Your Gluten Free Visit to London
London has an impressive number of 100% gluten free restaurants and dining options, but we still recommend doing some research before your trip. Having a list of restaurants that can accommodate your specific dietary needs makes it much easier to enjoy your time exploring the city without having to figure out where to eat at the last minute. We find this especially helpful because both of us navigate different special dietary needs, so what might work for me as a celiac might not be as great for Brandon with his many food allergies.
Do Pre-Cruise Research
Before we even boarded the ship, we spent a lot of time doing pre-cruise research. We reviewed YouTube videos, Instagram, Facebook groups, blogs (like ours!), and GF food apps to help us make a list of potential restaurants to dine at, and tips unique to London. We included this information in our Smartphone during our trip, so we could easily refer to it.
Based on our experience, London is an incredibly gluten free friendly city, with everything from 100% gluten free restaurants and bakeries to popular restaurant chains with extensive gluten free options and established allergy procedures. For us, the biggest challenge wasn't finding somewhere to eat, it was narrowing down all the places we wanted to try during our limited time in the city.
Because both of us navigate different special dietary needs, we found it helpful to keep several options saved for the neighborhoods we planned to visit. What works well for me as someone with celiac disease isn't necessarily going to work for Brandon with his multiple food allergies, so we looked for restaurants that could accommodate both of us whenever possible.
We also found London very easy to navigate when it came to payment. Credit cards and contactless payments were widely accepted. We brought about £100 in cash with us but still had some left at the end of our trip.
UK Food Allergy Labeling Laws
If you’re traveling to the United Kingdom from the United States, you may notice some differences in how food allergens are identified. In the UK, food businesses are required to provide information about 14 regulated allergens, including cereals containing gluten, milk, eggs, peanuts, several tree nuts, fish, crustaceans, molluscs, soybeans, sesame, celery, mustard, lupin, and sulphur dioxide/sulphites.
Where We Ate in London
We spent 3 days in London before our Disney Cruise and tried to fit in as many gluten free dining experiences as we could. Of course, London has far more gluten free options than we could possibly visit during one trip, but we found some fantastic spots that we would recommend and return to (except one, which we’ll share here).
Here are the restaurants we personally visited and what our experiences were like eating gluten free and with food allergies.
Honest Burgers
If you’re craving a burger and fries while in London, Honest Burgers is a great casual option to have on your list. With locations throughout London, this UK burger chain is especially convenient when you’re out sightseeing and want an easy meal without making a special trip across the city. If for some reason you don’t make it to London but are looking for an option near Heathrow Airport, there is an Honest Burgers location in Windsor.

Honest Burgers offers gluten free buns and has dedicated fryers for their incredible rosemary chips (aka fries), onion rings, and chicken tenders. They have a fryer just for fries and onion rings, so if you’re dairy free or plant-based — or like Brandon and have an allergy to chicken — you can enjoy with no worries.
We found it very easy to navigate the menu and discuss gluten free and allergy-friendly options when we visited with our server. We both ordered the classic Honest Burger with red onion relish, smoked bacon, cheddar, lettuce and pickles. Mine was served on a gluten free bun, and we both agreed these were incredibly delicious. We were also wowed by the Rosemary Salted Chips and Onion Rings.
One of the things we appreciated most about Honest Burgers was simply how convenient it was. When traveling, it's nice to have a few reliable casual restaurants in mind that don't require an elaborate reservation or hours of planning. With multiple London locations, Honest Burgers is definitely one we'd keep on our list for a future trip. We also ate here on our arrival date, which was incredibly helpful and convenient when you’re tired and jet lagged. We went to the Holborn location which was about a 10-15 min walk from our hotel, the Kimpton Fitzroy London.
Kimpton Fitzroy London
We stayed in Russell Square at the Kimpton Fitzroy London. This historic hotel was in a very convenient location to iconic sites, like the British Museum, and had a Tube Station directly around the corner for easy access to London sightseeing. Although we didn’t plan to eat at the hotel, we ended up getting a full English breakfast one morning with our friends who also stayed at the hotel during our visit.

The hotel offers a buffet breakfast daily from 7am - 11am, and you can choose to include breakfast daily in your hotel stay or purchase individually (which is what we did). The breakfast offers a full array of continental and full English breakfast staples.
Everyone in our party had special dietary needs, from dairy free to celiac to multiple food allergies. Our server was able to provide us with information about safety on the buffet but also offered to make us items directly in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. This included gluten free & dairy free eggs, non-dairy butter, non-dairy milk (they had soy milk on our visit), toast, and gluten free oatmeal. There were also many items on the buffet that were served in individual containers, making it an easier option to navigate.
We all really enjoyed the food and found the options to be hearty. We also really appreciated that the hotel’s service team and chefs were able to make us items in the kitchen to make it a safer, more enjoyable experience. And, having access to a gluten free breakfast at our hotel was especially convenient on busy sightseeing days. Instead of having to research a restaurant and travel somewhere else before starting our day, we could eat at the hotel and head out afterward.
If you're considering staying at the Kimpton Fitzroy London before or after a Disney Cruise, we recommend contacting the hotel about current gluten free and food allergy options before your stay, particularly if you have multiple dietary restrictions. We did also have drinks at the hotel’s lounge/bar, and they offered us gluten free snacks which was a nice touch too.
Afternoon Tea at the Ampersand Hotel
One of the experiences we were most excited about during our time in London was afternoon tea. Our group wanted something a bit more unique, so we chose to go to The Ampersand Hotel. Located in South Kensington and very close to both the Natural History Museum and Science Museum, we decided on the Ampersand because it offers its popular themed afternoon tea with accommodations for a variety of special dietary needs, including gluten free options. We chose the science themed afternoon tea service.

Our friends joined us for this experience, and we arranged for multiple special dietary afternoon tea options in advance of our reservation. The presentation was fantastic, and we loved getting to experience a quintessentially British afternoon tea while in London. Unfortunately, our experience also came with a significant downside.
Both my friend and I, who require gluten free meals, became quite ill following our afternoon tea. Based on our experience that day, we believe our scone plate may have accidentally been switched with other plates at our table, although we cannot know for certain what caused the reaction.
Because of the severity of our symptoms, I was sick for much of the remainder of our time in London and had to cancel several dining reservations that we had been looking forward to.
Of course, our experience reflects this particular visit and restaurant procedures can change. If you have celiac disease, a food allergy, or another medically necessary dietary restriction, we recommend discussing your needs and any cross-contact concerns directly with the restaurant when making your reservation and again when you arrive. For us, we would not recommend this location and would look for another afternoon tea option when visiting London, like One Aldywich with its whimsical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Tea for something less traditional.
Wagamama
Another convenient option with locations throughout London is Wagamama, a popular UK restaurant chain serving Asian-inspired dishes including noodles, curries, rice dishes, and more. For us, Wagamama ended up being a bit of a lifesaver on our last night in London.
After becoming sick earlier in our trip, I still wasn't feeling well and really couldn't eat very much. We needed somewhere that could accommodate gluten free dining but also had something relatively simple that I actually felt comfortable eating. Wagamama turned out to be exactly what I needed.

Our friends have raved about Wagamama, and we were especially impressed with how the restaurant handled food allergies and special dietary needs. When we let the restaurant know about our dietary restrictions, a manager came to our table to discuss our needs and personally take our order. Wagamama also has a separate allergy kitchen where allergy orders are prepared, which gave us some additional peace of mind after the experience we'd had earlier in the trip.
I ordered the gluten free Chicken Ramen, which was simple, comforting, and one of the first meals I felt like I could really eat after being sick. It wasn't necessarily the meal we had originally envisioned for our last night in London, but at that moment, it was exactly what I needed.
Because Wagamama has locations throughout London, it's also a useful option to keep in mind when you're traveling gluten free or with food allergies. Whether your original dining plans change like ours did or you simply need something convenient while exploring the city, having a restaurant with a strong allergy process nearby can make a big difference. We ate at the very busy Covent Garden location, and they did a fantastic job despite being such a busy location.
As always, menus, ingredients, and allergy procedures can change, so we recommend checking Wagamama's current allergen information and discussing your individual dietary needs with the restaurant when you visit.
Other Gluten Free Friendly Restaurants in London
We had several other London restaurants on our itinerary that we unfortunately didn't get to experience. After becoming ill following our afternoon tea, we had to cancel some of the dining reservations we had planned for the remainder of our stay.
We're still including a few of those restaurants here because they were places we researched extensively before our trip and would consider visiting on a future trip to London. Since we didn't personally dine at these locations, we can't speak to the experience firsthand. Many of these locations did come highly recommended by our friends who are also gluten free who have dined at these locations this past year.
Los Mochis
Los Mochis was easily one of the restaurants we were most excited to try during our trip to London. Blending Mexican and Japanese cuisine, the restaurant immediately caught our attention because of its approach to special diets. The menu is gluten free, making it a perfect option for me, while the restaurant is also nut free, which made it particularly appealing for Brandon's food allergies. Finding a restaurant that worked so well for both of our dietary needs felt like a huge win.
We had planned to visit the original Los Mochis location in Notting Hill, which looked like it would have been right up our alley. Beyond the food, the restaurant has a colorful, eclectic atmosphere, including some very cool Star Wars-inspired Yoda artwork that Brandon was especially excited to see.
Unfortunately, Los Mochis ended up being one of the reservations we had to cancel (multiple times) after I became ill earlier in our trip. We were genuinely disappointed to miss this one, especially because we'd specifically sought it out as a restaurant where both of us could potentially have a lot of choices rather than simply finding one or two dishes that worked for our dietary needs.
Because we weren't able to dine there ourselves, we can't speak firsthand about the food or allergy experience. But Los Mochis remains very high on our list for the next time we're in London and there's a pretty good chance it will be one of the first reservations we make.
Indigo at One Aldwych
Another restaurant we were genuinely disappointed to miss was Indigo at One Aldwych. Located inside the luxury One Aldwych hotel in Covent Garden, Indigo immediately made our London dining list because its menu is entirely gluten free. For anyone who normally has to carefully navigate restaurant menus, there's something pretty exciting about seeing an entire menu where gluten isn't the limiting factor.
We had a reservation at Indigo and were especially looking forward to having a more upscale gluten free dining experience during our time in London. Unfortunately, this was another reservation we had to cancel after I became ill earlier in our trip. We were really disappointed that we didn't get the chance to experience Indigo.
Since we weren't able to dine there ourselves, we can't personally comment on the food, service, or our experience with other dietary restrictions. But given its entirely gluten free menu and convenient Covent Garden location, Indigo remains firmly on our list for a future London trip.
Leon
Sometimes you don't need a fancy meal. You just need something quick and easy while you're exploring London. LEON is a UK fast food chain with locations throughout the city, and we found it to be a convenient option for grabbing a quick gluten free meal. You can also find Leon at the airports too.

Having an option like LEON on our list was particularly helpful because we didn't always want to plan our sightseeing around a restaurant reservation. If you're visiting London before or after a Disney Cruise, it's worth knowing where some of these more casual options are located near the places you plan to visit. Plus, their GF chicken tenders and fries are very good!
Public Markets
From Camden to Borough, you’ll find that there are many public markets in London. Most of them have gluten free options, and some even have 100% gluten free vendor booths. Of course, if you’re like us and love a good potato, you can’t go wrong with baked potatoes (or jacket potatoes as they’re typically called in the UK).

Borough 22 at Selfridges Food Hall
If gluten free donuts are high on your vacation priority list, like they are on ours, Borough 22 is one London option you'll want to know about. Their donuts are gluten free and vegan and have developed quite a following among gluten free locals and visitors alike.
We had planned to pick up Borough 22 donuts at the Selfridges Food Hall during our trip and were really looking forward to trying them. Unfortunately, after I became ill earlier in our stay, donuts weren't exactly at the top of the list of foods I could handle, so this was another stop we ultimately had to miss.
Even though we can't personally review the donuts, we still wanted to include Borough 22 because it consistently came up during our pre-trip research and gets rave reviews from the gluten free community. Finding a good gluten free donut isn't always easy, so having an option like this in central London is definitely worth knowing about.
After missing out this time, we're pretty sure gluten free donuts will be one of our priorities the next time we're in London!
Marks & Spencer and Tesco
Don't overlook grocery stores when you're looking for gluten free options in London! Two of the easiest places we found to pick up gluten free snacks and other essentials were Marks & Spencer and Tesco, both of which have locations throughout the city.
Marks & Spencer was especially fun to explore because of its selection of gluten free and "Made Without" products. They have snacks and baked goods that were easy to keep in our hotel room or take with us while sightseeing. If you're visiting from the United States, it's also fun to browse the selection because you'll find plenty of gluten free products and brands that aren't commonly available back home.

Tesco was another convenient option, particularly when we just needed to grab a few basics. We had a small Tesco location next to our hotel during our stay. Depending on the size of the store, you'll find a selection of gluten free and "Free From" products along with naturally gluten free snacks, drinks, and other easy-to-grab items. We picked up tons of candies and crisps (potato chips) that we even brought home with us from our trip.
We always like visiting local grocery stores when we travel, but they're especially helpful when traveling with dietary restrictions. Having a few safe snacks or simple breakfast items in our hotel room gave us backup options if restaurant plans changed — something that ended up being particularly useful for us on this trip.
Selection can vary considerably by store and location, especially between smaller convenience-style locations and larger supermarkets, so you may not find the same gluten free products everywhere. But with Marks & Spencer and Tesco locations all over London, they're both worth keeping in mind when you need something quick or want to stock up on a few gluten free essentials.
Eating in London Gluten Free Made Easy
London turned out to be an incredibly gluten free friendly destination, and we only scratched the surface of what the city has to offer. From casual options like burgers and noodles to afternoon tea, dedicated gluten free restaurants, and an impressive selection of Free From products at local grocery stores, we found plenty of choices throughout the city.
Of course, our dining plans didn't go entirely as expected. After becoming ill partway through our trip, we had to cancel several restaurants we had been really excited to try. While that was disappointing, it also reinforced just how helpful it is to research plenty of options before traveling. Having backup choices, including casual restaurants and grocery stores, made a big difference when our original plans changed.
Overall, we found London to be one of the easiest cities we've visited for navigating gluten free dining. For Disney Cruise Line guests spending a few days in London before or after a cruise, we definitely recommend taking advantage of the city's gluten free food scene. Whether you're looking for a quick meal while sightseeing, a special dining experience, or simply some gluten free snacks to keep in your hotel room, there are plenty of options to explore.
As always, menus, ingredients, and restaurant procedures can change, so be sure to confirm current options and discuss your individual dietary needs directly with a restaurant before ordering.
